The World Academy of Nursing Science (WANS) was established in September 2009 and focuses on the development of nursing research and is composed of academic organizations sharing the same mission and vision. The Taiwan Nurses Association (TWNA) became a member in June 2021. The organization currently comprises 19 organizational members from 7 countries: the United States, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Taiwan.
WANS holds the International Nursing Research Conference every two years. To increase the international visibility and network with more nursing organizations around the world, Taiwan Nurses Association (TWNA) joined the World Academy of Nursing Science (WANS) in 2021. With the theme of Nurses Together for Global Challenges - Leading Nursing Science and Knowledge Generation Post Global Pandemic, TWNA and AAPINA co-hosted the 7th International Nursing Research Conference of World Academy of Nursing Science (7th WANS Conference) on October 18-19, 2022, Taipei, Taiwan in a hybrid format. There were 1,500 colleagues from 21 countries, who have registered to attend and 1,360 abstracts were accepted for presentation. It was a greatest honor that Dr. Pamela Cipriano, the President of International Council of Nurses (ICN) and many of high profile nurse leaders shared their farsighted global view during the Conference.
